DIY Fire Pit Screens

Having a fire pit in your lawn or as patio furniture is a great idea especially if you like to spend your time outdoors a lot, either having barbeque or just hanging out under the star filled sky. A copper fire pit is the ultimate outdoors heat generator everyone should have. However being shot by the fire spark is never ones' idea of spending time before the fire. You also don't want to burn down your garden. There are steps you need to take to have to ensure fire pit safety.

Therefore, you should cover the fire pit during the fire is going on. There are custom fire pit screens you can order according to the size of fire pit you have. But if you build your own fire pit, don't you think you should finish it off with the pit safety screen?

How to build fire pit screen or spark screen? Here, I am going to tell you how to build very basic pit screens.

Firstly, gather the materials and tools you are going to use. The tools you are going to use are wire cutter and measuring tape. The materials you need are some wire and barbeque pit grill guard. You can even use used barbeque pit grill guard to safe cost.

Secondly, measure the fire pit you are going to cover for optimum coverage. The bigger the pit the bigger size of the grill or more pieces of grill you are going to need.

Thirdly, determine how you are going to best fit the grill over the fire pit. Get more grills if one piece cannot fit the whole fire pit. Bind the grills together you need to cover the whole pit with wire.

Fourthly, measure the length of wire you need and cut it using the wire cutter. Bind the wire several times around the edges of the grills. Bind tightly to ensure the grill to stick together. Lay your self-made screen over the open area of the fire pit to prevent fire pit sparks from falling on the ground and risk burning your garden.
